CitySearch to Merge With Zip2

CitySearch, a Pasadena firm that creates online city guides, has agreed to merge with Mountain View, Calif.-based Zip2, which produces locally focused online yellow pages, in a $300-million deal, according to ZDNet News. The new company will retain the CitySearch name but will be based in Mountain View, according to the online news service. Charles Conn, chief executive of CitySearch, will become chairman of the combined firm. No layoffs are planned, ZDNet said. Neither company could be reached for comment.
