Taxing Complications Reason to Abolish IRS

Share

I can’t imagine any greater argument for abolishing the Internal Revenue Service and the federal income tax than “Say Goodbye to EZ Street” [Feb. 22].

The complications are incredible, and all for the purpose of providing tax relief to a portion of the population. Which should it be, the traditional IRA or the Roth IRA? Is your income too high for one set of tax breaks but just right for another? Have you spent years planning your income and shelters properly so you can take advantage of a tax break that might be gone by the time the right year rolls around?

The time has obviously come to eliminate the income tax and replace it with a federal sales tax. No more trying to shelter your income to avoid taxes, a proposition that isn’t available to any but the higher-income-level families in any event.

Tax sales of everything except food and medicine, abolish the IRS and reduce the aggravation of the tax-filing season. With the IRS out of existence, our taxes would be reduced by the amount it costs to fund that government agency too.
