PG & E Energy to Provide Services to Arco

PG & E Energy Services, the energy marketing arm of Pacific Gas & Electric Co.’s San Francisco-based parent, will provide electricity and power management services to gas stations and other facilities in California owned by Los Angeles-based Atlantic Richfield Co. under terms of a multiyear, $60-million deal. More than 350 Arco gas stations, AM/PM convenience stores, eight gasoline distribution terminals, 16 pipeline pump stations and production units will be supplied by PG & E Energy Services. The marketing firm previously made deals to sell electricity to 800 McDonald’s restaurants, 550 Blockbuster stores, and 400 Safeway and Vons grocery stores in California. PG & E Energy Services also signed a nationwide $2-billion deal with San Antonio-based Ultramar Diamond Shamrock to supply electricity to the company’s gas stations, refineries and other facilities.
