Sparks Acquire McGee

The Sparks, already with a noticeable USC look, added another former Trojan on Monday when they traded with the Sacramento Monarchs for Pam McGee.

She is a 6-foot-3 forward who helped lead USC to NCAA women’s basketball championships in 1983 and ‘84, playing alongside Rhonda Windham, the Sparks’ general manager.

“Pam brings years of basketball experience and winning to our organization,” Windham said. “She is a proven leader on and off the court. We expect Pam to become an integral part of our team.”

Linda Burgess was sent to Sacramento for McGee, 35, who averaged 10.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in 1997.

McGee, an Olympic gold medalist in 1984, ranks second in career rebounding at USC to Lisa Leslie, a Spark teammate.
