* Los Angeles-based Koo Koo Roo Inc. said it has signed an agreement with a group of restaurant operators and investors, including actor/restaurateur Michael Caine, to license its Koo Koo Roo California Kitchen concept in Britain. Caine is involved in numerous restaurants in Britain. The agreement calls for the investor group to build and open a minimum of 10 restaurants in the next five years.

* Palo Alto-based ETrade Group Inc. said its fiscal second-quarter earnings doubled to $6.1 million, or 15 cents a diluted share, from $3.1 million, or 9 cents, in the same period a year ago. The Internet-based brokerage firm said it handled 83% more transactions than in the year-earlier quarter. The latest results matched the average estimate of analysts.
