Spotlight: Labor Raiders Hit Orange County Laundries

Share

State and federal labor investigators raided five commercial laundries in Orange County, turning up a variety of violations that carry thousands of dollars in fines. Four of the laundries were forced to close immediately because they lacked workers’ compensation. The raids were the first in this industry; labor officials previously have focused on violations in the garment, restaurant and agriculture sectors. Investigators found that some of the laundries failed to pay overtime and minimum wages.
