Lifelong county resident Carol Ann Tellez died Monday after a long illness. She was 50.

Tellez was born Oct. 13, 1947, in Port Hueneme. As a young girl, Tellez moved to Ventura, where she later raised six children, said her sister, Peggy Padilla of Ventura.

During her 20s and 30s, Tellez worked as a cook in restaurants in Oxnard and Ventura, Padilla said. She retired to become a full-time homemaker, Padilla said.

Tellez enjoyed playing bingo at several halls, including the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Elks Lodge, said her son, Bill Kirkpatrick of Hollister. Tellez also liked watching television game shows.
