Coastal Panel OKs Farmer’s Market at Marina

The Coastal Commission on Tuesday unanimously approved a request that a weekly farmer’s market be held at the Los Alamitos Bay Marina parking lot.

The commission’s approval was the final hurdle in the market’s bid for a two-year permit to operate from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays.

Since 1990, the downtown area has had a Friday farmer’s market. But residents in the Naples and Belmont Shore areas wanted a market that was closer to their neighborhood and one that operated on weekends. The Los Alamitos Bay farmer’s market, which started last October, has been operating with a temporary permit.
