The Boys & Girls Club, beset by storm damage that has shut its gym down for more than a month, still plans to hold its biggest fund-raiser of the year on April 25.

Organizers hope to raise $40,000 at the Casino Night Auction to help fund the club’s $365,000 annual budget, said Bali Thorn, an administrative assistant at the club.

Among the items to be auctioned are a trip to Hawaii, a Fashion Island shopping spree and dinner at several restaurants. An estimated 700 children and teens use the club.

The nonprofit youth center, which is used by adults too, is also searching for grants to pay for $40,000 in repairs to the gym, one-third of which was soaked by rain and mud in the last El Nino-related storm Feb. 23.

Casino Night is typically held in the gym, Thorn said. She expects it to be dry by the night of the fund-raiser.

Tickets for the auction are $50 in advance, or $60 at the door. Information: (714) 494-2535.
