$2 Million in Road Projects Approved
Road projects set to begin soon in Camarillo may bring a temporary inconvenience to residents, but city leaders say it comes with the promise of easing congestion.
The City Council unanimously approved more than $2 million in road plans Wednesday evening.
The realignment of Ventura Boulevard will include expanding the two-lane road to four lanes from Las Posas Road to Ventura Boulevard. The estimated cost of this project is $1.3 million.
And parkway improvements on Las Posas Road from Lewis Road to Temple Avenue and from Carmen Drive to Lantana Street will mean constructing raised medians, installing landscaping and irrigation, median street lights, signs and repaving. The estimated cost of this project is $1 million.
Construction should begin by summer and be completed by early next year.
Although the projects will last several months, inconveniences should be minimal to drivers, said Tom Fox, the city’s traffic engineer.
