Wilson Names Three Superior Court Judges

Gov. Pete Wilson on Thursday appointed three new Superior Court judges for Los Angeles County.

Gary J. Ferrari, 53, of Long Beach, has served as a Municipal Court judge in Long Beach since 1989. He was also a deputy city attorney for that city from 1981 to 1989. Ferrari replaces Judge John Leahy, who retired last month after eight years on the Superior Court bench, most recently in Compton.

Ruth A. Kwan, 42, of South Pasadena, is a former Los Angeles deputy city attorney and has been a Municipal Court judge in East Los Angeles since 1995. Kwan replaces Judge Abby Soven, who retired from the Central Courthouse.

Richard W. McLain, 60, of Glendale, is a private attorney with nearly 30 years of experience, most recently as a partner in the firm of Stockdale, Sacino & McLain. McLain will replace Judge Haig Kehiayan, who served in the San Fernando courthouse.

The annual salary for Superior Court judges is $107,390.
