Officer to Repeat Talk on Traffic Tickets

The last time Capt. Alan Kerstein of the Los Angeles Police Department spoke to the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Assn., association President Richard Close got booed.

The razzing was not because the audience did not like Close’s choice of guest speaker, but because they didn’t want Kerstein to stop talking.

“It was the first time, in the 22 years I’ve been running these meetings, that I actually got booed when I tried to end the meeting,” Close said. “They just liked Capt. Kerstein so much.”

For those who missed his last appearance, Kerstein will make an encore presentation of his “How to Avoid a Ticket” seminar at the association’s next meeting at 8 p.m. Wednesday at The Ventura, 13920 Ventura Blvd.

“He talks about a serious subject with the right amount of humor,” Close said. “He makes the meeting fun for everyone.”

At the same meeting, the owners of the Sherman Oaks Galleria will discuss possible changes at the mall, including converting some of the retail space to office space.
