Andrea ‘Andy’ Florio; Actor, Big Band Drummer

Andrea “Andy” N. Florio, 70, character actor in many films and drummer with big bands. A native of St. Marys, Pa., Florio was an accomplished musician and composer and often played roles as a drummer or band leader. He served in the Army at the end of World War II and performed with President Harry S. Truman’s Official Air Forces Band. Florio also appeared with the big bands of Benny Goodman, Les Brown, Tommy Dorsey and Lawrence Welk and for several years had his own Andy Florio Band. Florio was past president of the National Assn. of Drumologists. On Thursday in Glendale.
