Deadline Is Today for Red Cross Orchid Drive

Share

There’s still time to buy an orchid for a colleague as part of Professional Secretaries Week and help the American Red Cross at the same time--but only until 5 p.m. today.

The Red Cross will use the money raised during its fifth annual orchid sale to help families hit by disaster, said Gayle Maehara, spokeswoman for the drive.

This year, the Orange County chapter of the Red Cross is helping coordinate orchid drives across the country as a way of raising funds from businesses and other organizations.

The chapter is offering fresh-cut cymbidium orchids with bow and corsage pin for $6. More elaborate arrangements of orchid sprays with 10 to 12 blooms will cost $25.

Those who order fewer than 10 arrangements for secretaries week, which runs April 20 to 24, will be asked to pick them up from the Red Cross’s main office at 601 N. Golden Circle Drive in Santa Ana.

Orders of more than 10 will be delivered.

To order, call Maehara at (714) 835-5381 extension 248.
