City Expected to Buy Natural Gas Vehicles

Share

The City Council tonight is expected to approve buying three natural gas-powered vehicles and a refueling system for about $74,500.

The purchases will be paid for with state money set aside to buy alternative fuel vehicles--part of California’s Air Quality Improvement Program. The plan encourages local governments to replace gasoline-burning vehicles with low-emission vehicles that use alternative fuels.

City staff members asked the council to approve the purchase of a natural gas-powered Ford F-250 truck and two Ford Crown Victorias at a total cost of $64,500. The new vehicles require a $10,000 refueling station, which will be located in the city parking garage.
