Student Counselors to Help OCC Peers

Trained student counselors at Orange Coast College, known as peer helpers, will provide information to their classmates this month on a variety of social issues: HIV and AIDS, substance abuse and date rape.

Spring Semester HIV Awareness Day on April 29, will feature six workshops. Discussions on April 30 will focus on preventing sexual assault.

Peer Helpers sponsor a buddy program at the campus and help students with their problems. They also lead campus tours and organize health education programs.

Events on April 29 run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Center Lounge. Events on April 30 are at 10:30 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. in the same location.
