Initial Meeting for Academic Boosters

Share

A new academic booster club, open to all parents of students in the Santa Ana Unified School District, will hold its first meeting tonight.

The club is primarily made up of parents of Saddleback High School students, but club founder Jim Colon said any parent who wants to devote time and energy to enhancing education in Santa Ana’s schools is welcome.

Improving SAT test preparation is one of the group’s first goals, Colon said. Parents also want to encourage students to take advanced placement and other college preparatory classes.

Colon said parents are worried about drop-out rates at local high schools, and would like to see higher academic performance standards.

The club meets at 6:30 p.m. in the teachers lounge at Saddleback High School, 2802 S. Flower St.
