Networking Event Seeks Subcontractors

Share

Owners of construction-related businesses will get a chance this week to discuss possible subcontracting opportunities with six design-build groups that have been chosen as finalists to bid on one of the key construction projects for the Alameda Corridor.

The six groups will be on hand at the Mid-Corridor Design-Build Networking Event on Thursday to seek subcontractors to help fill out their teams and bid for the $500-million project that will sink a 10-mile train trench from 25th Street in Los Angeles to the 91 Freeway.

The Alameda Corridor is a $2-billion project to construct a 20-mile freight rail expressway linking the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles to the transcontinental rail hub east of downtown. Construction began last year and is scheduled for completion in 2001.

The so-called Mid-Corridor Trench is the project’s biggest segment, and the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority is expected to select a prime contractor for the job in September.

The networking event will be from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Carson Community Center, 3 Civic Plaza, Carson. Also expected to attend are representatives from local job development and training programs.
