Armin Wittenberg Jr.; Beverly Hills Civic Leader

Armin H. “Bud” Wittenberg Jr., 78, businessman, Beverly Hills commissioner and philanthropist. After graduating from USC, Wittenberg began his career working in his father’s silk hosiery manufacturing company. He interrupted that to serve in the Coast Guard during World War II. Afterward, Wittenberg ran an import business for British automobiles and managed the West Coast division of the National Kinney Corp. An avid collector and restorer of vintage cars, Wittenberg was a familiar figure at classic car shows throughout California. He served on the Beverly Hills Planning Commission from 1978 until 1986. As a philanthropist, Wittenberg supported medical research at UCLA, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas. He also worked as a volunteer in the Cedars-Sinai emergency room and was active in the Santa Catalina Island Conservancy. On Sunday in Los Angeles.
