Man in Spousal Gun Duel Faces Charge
A man who traded gunfire with his estranged wife during a marriage counseling session had been charged with injuring her five days earlier.
Court records show that Michael Martin was arrested Tuesday on a spousal abuse charge stemming from a complaint by Bonnie Martin. She said he pushed her against a shower door and bruised her shoulder last week.
On Wednesday, Michael Martin allegedly shot his wife after he arrived late for a counseling session. She drew her own gun and wounded him, police said.
Michael Martin was treated at a hospital and released. Bonnie Martin underwent surgery and remained hospitalized in serious condition, a hospital spokesman said.
Records show that Bonnie Martin has filed for divorce three times since 1989, most recently on Feb. 23.
