Radio Host Settling Into a New Airwave

Less than two months after being cut from KVEN radio’s lineup, local talk show host Carl Haeberle has found a new home a few notches up the dial.

Haeberle, 58, is back interviewing Ventura County community leaders during a show on KTRO-AM (1520) from 8 to 9 a.m.

“I’m happy, they’re happy,” Haeberle said Monday of his new bosses at Gold Coast Broadcasting.

A Spanish-language station until a year and a half ago, KTRO is aiming to become the talk radio voice of Ventura County, officials said. Haeberle’s track record of getting local newsmakers to discuss issues, station officials said, made him a perfect fit.

The talk show host has been on the air at the new station for three weeks, but hesitated to let everybody know.

“I didn’t want to promote it if it wasn’t going to work,” Haeberle said.

Apparently it’s working. Haeberle signed a contract with Gold Coast Broadcasting on Monday.

His show airs Monday through Friday on the Hot Talk Cafe with Tom Spence.

Haeberle’s KVEN show was canceled March 15.
