Car Dealer Seeks OK for Expansion

Share

The owners of Capistrano Ford are seeking to expand their business to include truck and used-car dealerships.

The Planning Commission must approve the expansion onto a hillside adjacent to Price Club Plaza. Expansion of the 5-acre complex would require an exemption to the city’s Hillside Management Code.

The code, enacted to protect the historic city’s pristine ridgelines, prohibits developers from building on some hillsides.

A city report said it’s questionable whether the hillside affected by the Ford proposal is worthy of preservation since a considerable amount of earth has been removed there for construction on Stonehill Drive.

The new dealerships would include 53 parking spaces and lighting, two signs and decorative landscaping. There are no plans to build service or repair facilities.

City planners will meet tonight at 7, 32400 Paseo Adelanto, to discuss the proposal.
