Anyone interested in producing a feature-length, science-fiction comedy can sign up for a free film and video production course to be offered in the fall at Nordhoff High School.

The class is being offered by the Ojai Unified School District and the Regional Occupation Program in Camarillo, said course organizer Mark Capritto.

It will offer a hands-on approach to screenwriting, directing, producing, lighting, audio, editing and marketing for students 16 and older.

In the class, students will produce a film similar to a conventional Hollywood production, Capritto said.

Two sessions of the class will be held Monday through Friday, from 12:20 to 2:15 p.m. and from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Once production is underway, both classes will meet on Saturdays in various locations in Ojai to shoot the film, Capritto said.

In addition, students will study the films of Stanley Kubrick, Atom Egoyan, Terry Gilliam, David Lynch and Gillian Armstrong.

For more information, call Capritto or Todd Jensen at Nordhoff High School.
