Two Plead Guilty in $17-Million Heist

The alleged masterminds behind one of the largest armored car robberies in U.S. history pleaded guilty to bank larceny and money laundering charges stemming from last October’s $17-million heist. Steven and Michelle Chambers, who moved into a luxury home and spent lavishly after the robbery of a Loomis, Fargo and Co. cash warehouse in Charlotte, N.C., could be sentenced to life in prison. Under a plea agreement, the couple from Gastonia, about 20 miles west of Charlotte, agreed to pay restitution in the case. According to federal prosecutors, an estimated $2.5 million is still missing.
