5 Sex Shops Face Hearings; 1 Closed

A trial-court judge ordered one sex shop closed under New York City’s new zoning laws but refused to shutter five others. Instead, Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Stephen Crane scheduled a hearing for Thursday on the businesses, which range from adult theaters and strip clubs to book and video stores. The venue ordered to close was the Harmony in Manhattan, where city officials testified that topless dancers “put their breasts into male patron’s faces” and that the club was littered with used condoms.
