Kashmir Fighting Ends Brief Lull
Indian and Pakistani soldiers resumed firing mortar shells across their disputed frontier, killing or wounding at least nine soldiers on both sides, local news agencies reported. The United News of India and Press Trust of India news agencies cited an Indian government spokesman saying that seven Pakistani soldiers were either killed or injured. Officials in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, did not comment. A lull in nine days of fighting ended when Pakistani soldiers fired mortar shells into India-held Kashmir, UNI said. Indian soldiers retaliated, it said.
