From Times Wire Reports

The military government in Myanmar vowed to take action against 18 foreign activists detained for distributing leaflets in Yangon, the capital, accusing them of trying to stir unrest. State radio promised unspecified action against the six Americans, three Thais, three Malaysians, three Indonesians, two Philippine nationals and an Australian detained Sunday. The government pledge came as the opposition National League for Democracy accused the military of putting the party’s leader, 1991 Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, under virtual house arrest. The party statement said the military had erected barriers on the roads outside her house in Yangon.
