Clubs that are cooler than cool.

Bar Sinister at Boardner’s on Saturday. Deep in the heart of Hollywood lies this Louisiana-style club. A Saturday night party with musical fixings ranging from classical gumbo to industrial madness--geared to those who have completed the entire Ann Rice catalog. Boardner’s outdoor patio and fountain makes this spot particularly chill. 1652 N. Cherokee Ave., (310) 815-5076. 21 and over, $8 cover.

Cafe Bleu at Tempest on Thursdays. The gals who run this fabulous Britpop dance club have gone back to basics, leaving the Probe for Tempest--the venue where they began Cafe Bleu. The outdoor patio, friendly atmosphere and intimate dance area are a far (and better) cry from the larger club Probe, which proves that bigger ain’t always better. 7321 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood. (323) 850-5115. 18 and over, $5 to $7 cover.

Candyland Lounge at Vida on Wednesdays. A must for the sweet-tooth set, Candyland Lounge offers multiple deejays and percussion outside in the airy “peppermint patio.” 1930 Hillhurst Ave., Los Feliz, (323) 660-4446. 21 and over, $5 cover.

Cat & Fiddle Pub. With its ice-cold beer and spacious dining patio, Cat & Fiddle is a summertime must--easy, breezy and serving loads of fish ‘n’ chips to boot (live music nightly). 6530 W. Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, (323) 468-3800. All ages, no cover.

Cherry at Love Lounge on Fridays. This hot spot has cornered the market on cool. It’s packed every week with celebrities and “scenesters” alike and continues to do so well on the virtue of its musical selection, which migrates from metal to grunge, to glam to pop with an ease only seminal scene-makers Mike Messex, Joseph Brooks and Bryan Rabin could mastermind. 657 N. Robertson Blvd., West Hollywood, (323) 896-9099. 21 and over, $10 cover.

Joe’s Juke Joint at the Burgundy Room on Tuesdays. Joe’s channels the spirit of Hank Williams with the attitude of Johnny Cash, for a good-time hang aimed at modern-day hillbillies. 1621 Cahuenga Blvd., Hollywood, (323) 465-7530. 21 and over, no cover.

North. Head down the stairwell and into the cool interior of this brand-new bar--remodeled and upgraded to suit ‘90s club crawlers--and do so quickly. In no time, it’ll be as popular as its Three Clubs (which is owned by the same barkeeps). 8029 W. Sunset Blvd., L.A., unlisted phone. 21 and over, no cover.
