From Times Wire Reports

Taliban fighters captured a key border town, cutting off their opponents’ only supply route and moving closer to their goal of uniting Afghanistan under their rigid Islamic rule. Hayratan was the anti-Taliban northern alliance’s only safe passage to Central Asia, the source of its weapons and supplies. The fall of the town, 250 miles north of the capital, Kabul, means that the opposition is now isolated within Afghanistan. An official in neighboring Uzbekistan confirmed the town’s fall.
