Planners to Consider Posh Senior Housing

Share

The Planning Commission will consider a request to build a large, upscale senior housing project that would include the area’s first facility to care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.

Planning commissioners are scheduled to decide tonight whether to recommend that the City Council approve the project. The Chase Group, based in Westlake Village, is proposing to develop the Clarion Estates on a six-acre parcel at Los Angeles Avenue and Emory Street. The project’s target opening date is late next year.

In addition to the special Alzheimer’s care facility, the $10-million project would include sections offering varying levels of care for resident seniors. As planned, the Clarion Estates are conceived to be resort-like, with a 60-seat movie theater and carefully manicured grounds dotted with small, landscaped lakes.
