A Final Fanfare for an Uncommon Man

Share

With tears flowing over coffee last Friday morning, reading Bill Plaschke’s article recounting Jim and Linda McCoy-Murray’s last years and final day together, I was suddenly moved to drive to St. Martin of Tours and the-soon-to start funeral Mass; to pay respects and offer a few prayers, if only from the car.

Arriving late, I found a place in the church auditorium overflow seating, and had the privilege of hearing in full the tremendously warm, wise and appropriately humor-sprinkled homily of Msgr. Sheridan and Jack Whitaker’s stirring tribute to the “grand man.”

Best unfinished cup of coffee I ever had.
