From Times Wire Reports

Hurricane Danielle crawled across the Atlantic, following a path that forecasters said would take it away from land. Danielle’s top sustained wind blew at 80 mph--the minimum for a hurricane is 74 mph--and it was moving toward the northwest at only about 6 mph, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said. It was expected to keep turning toward the north and come no closer than 500 miles from the coast of Florida, said center meteorologist Bill Frederick.
