Deputy DA Is Named Municipal Court Judge
Sam Ohta has been appointed to the Los Angeles Municipal Court by Gov. Pete Wilson, replacing Judge Joseph Riggio, who has retired.
Ohta, 35, of Los Angeles, has served as a deputy district attorney for the Los Angeles district attorney’s office since 1994. Previously, he served in the Los Angeles city attorney’s office from 1991 to 1994, and before that was in private practice with the firm of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue from 1989 to 1991.
Ohta is a member of the Japanese-American Bar Assn., the Asian-Pacific City Attorneys Assn., the National Asian-Pacific American Bar Assn. and the Los Angeles County Bar Assn.
Ohta earned a bachelor’s degree in history from UC Santa Barbara and a juris doctorate from Loyola Law School.
