Each Individual Owns His or Her Own Body

Share

With regard to the article on Jack Kevorkian and ethics (“Kevorkian’s Latest Act Raises New Concerns,” Nov. 25):

Those of us who believe in private property rights should strongly support Jack Kevorkian. Fundamental to the concept of private property rights and laissez-faire capitalism (the only economic system compatible with private property rights) is the moral principle that each individual owns his own body. Each individual has the right to use his body in whatsoever peaceful manner he chooses, including suicide or voluntarily allowing oneself to be injected with lethal substances.

This idea that our bodies belong to God is nothing but religious claptrap. Let us be very clear on this point: God did not make man. Man made God.
