Technology is among the top issues the city is studying to prepare for the next century. In a report titled “Third Millennium Issues,” the city staff has listed a number of implications of the Information Age. Among them: Residents will be increasingly differentiated in terms of the technology haves and have-nots, posing challenges for the city and schools.

Some suggestions to help the city respond to the changes include creating partnerships with the school district, libraries and community centers to make sure that technology is easily available; continuing business ventures so customers help pay for technology improvements that benefit city organizations; and improving public interaction through the city’s Web site.
