* Pfizer Inc. was selected Company of the Year by Forbes magazine because it focuses on research and development of drugs that may lift revenue by as much as $10 billion during the next five years. The fourth-largest U.S. drug maker, whose sexual impotence pill Viagra is expected to reap $1.4 billion in 1999 revenue, wants to overcome Merck & Co. as the top U.S. drug maker by 2001. The New York-based company is developing drugs to treat heart disease, schizophrenia, migraines and certain cancers in a bid to meet that goal and has about 50 drugs in human trials, possibly more than any other drug maker, the magazine says in its Jan. 11 issue.
