The 17-hour time difference between Japan and the West Coast (14 hours in New York) poses major challenges to CBS in bringing the Winter Games to television viewers. Results of some key events, such as figure skating, may be known in the early morning but the event won’t be televised until that night. So the network will rely on a softer approach with fewer live events than the ’96 Summer Games, except on weekends. Here is a schedule of events in Nagano and the broadcast lineup--128 hours of programming over 17 days.
