What Are You Drinking

“Adam Tolmach of Ojai Vineyards came by the other day, and we swapped some wines. Everything I’ve tasted has been great, but I guess my favorite was the Syrah from Roll Ranch. This is a big, dark, mysterious, unctuous, meaty, earthy, chewy wine, like some of the wines from the northern Rho^ne. It’s so extracted that it might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but I like wines that have character.”
