* Hospital stays tended to be brief, with 11.5 days as the average length of stay in 1996, a 1.7% drop from 1995.

* At the same time, 9.5% more people were treated in 1996 than in 1995.

* Ambulatory services served more people, with outpatient admissions of 1,231 in 1996, 20.5% more than in 1995.
