Santa Anita Park Owners File Revised Project Plan

Share

The owners of Santa Anita Park filed a new application with the city Wednesday to build a scaled-down version of the $300-million entertainment complex that was rebuffed last year by the community.

The new project, like the previous proposal, would be built in the parking lot of the racetrack. But it would be a third of the 1.5-million-square-foot complex originally planned, city officials said. However, few details of the new project were available apart from the fact that it would include theaters, restaurants, retail shops and a supermarket.

The original project, conceived as a larger version of CityWalk in Universal City, generated widespread opposition in Arcadia. A group calling itself Neighbors for Arcadia led the project’s opponents.
