Oscar Spoof Will Raise Charity Funds

The Oscar for best director in the American Heart Assn.’s fourth annual Celebrities With Heart Gala goes to . . . Peter Bastone, chief executive officer at Mission Hospital.

Hoping to double funds raised last year, the American Heart Assn. is planning an awards ceremony, spoofing the Academy Awards, at the Marriott Laguna Cliffs Resort on March 13.

More than 200 people are expected to attend the dinner and dance to meet the association’s goal of raising $25,000 this year. At least a third of the money raised will pay for research to reduce heart disease and stroke.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person, of which $55 is tax deductible.
