Light Showers Expected Through This Afternoon
Rain is expected throughout Orange County today, though not as heavy as the storms that swept across the region a month ago, forecasters say.
Weather experts say there is a 70% chance of light showers that are expected to last until late afternoon, with temperatures near 60 degrees. By tonight, the skies should clear, though the temperatures are expected to reach the low 50s, said weather analyst John Sherwin of WeatherData, which provides forecasts for The Times.
Sherwin said the expected showers today are caused by a cold front moving along the West Coast from the Pacific Northwest. In addition, some mountain areas above 5,000 feet can expect snow, Sherwin said.
On Dec. 6, more than 6 inches of rain fell throughout central Orange County, causing flooding, evacuations and mudslides.
Today, residents should expect only around a quarter-inch to a half-inch of rain, Sherwin said.
“It should not be anything too heavy,” he said.
