Seminars Offered on Using Computers

The city’s Telecommunications Center will host several seminars this month to make using computers more understandable.

Beginning Wednesday, residents can attend seminars offering individual computer instruction.

The two-hour classes will be held every Wednesday by appointment and will begin at 10 a.m.

Similar seminars taught in Spanish will be held on Wednesdays beginning at 2 p.m.

The center will also hold several free seminars on special topics, including Effective Keyboarding, beginning at 7 tonight; Disk Operating Systems, starting at 7 p.m. Thursday; Locating Business, Education and Community Web Sites, beginning at 7 p.m. Jan. 13; What’s Under the Computer Hood? beginning at 7 p.m. Jan. 22; and Computers 101, a three-session seminar presenting an overview of software, hardware and the Internet, beginning at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 and continuing Jan. 20 and 29.

During the past six months, more than 1,000 people have taken advantage of the Telecommunications Center’s specialized instruction.

All classes will be held on the second floor of the Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd.
