Blind Seal Finds Home at Aquarium

Share

Obadiah, a blind 7-month-old harbor seal, has found a home at the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific in the Seal and Sea Lion Exhibit.

When found on the shore in Newport Beach in August, she was dehydrated and underweight. The Friends of the Sea Lion Marine Mammal Care Center in Laguna Beach nursed her back to health.

Obadiah has cataracts in both eyes, and her chances of survival in the wild are less than 10%, said aquarium spokeswoman Michele Nachum.

The aquarium plans to offer a home to other rehabilitated mammals when it opens in June with 17 major exhibits and 30 tanks, she said.
