Wisconsin forward Sam Okey said he is leaving the team immediately, closing out a disappointing season in which he was suspended for two games and suffered chronic back pains.

The decision came a day after Okey had been bumped from the starting lineup by Coach Dick Bennett. In a statement, Okey said he had lost his enthusiasm to play at Wisconsin.

The 6-foot-7 junior has played in nine of 15 games because of back spasms and the two-game suspension that began the season. The Capital Times in Madison had reported the suspension was for smoking marijuana, but the university said only that Okey was suspended for disciplinary reasons.

Wagner College junior center Frantz Pierre-Louis was charged with the rape of a fellow student two weeks ago, police said.

The 6-foot-8 Pierre-Louis, 21, of Uniondale, N.Y., turned himself in to police in New York, a police spokesman said.
