Teacher Had Faith in Shuttle Flight

A third-grade teacher who was the late Sharon Christa McAuliffe’s backup in NASA’s Teacher in Space program said she never doubted the chance would arrive to continue her colleague’s legacy. Word that Barbara Morgan would begin training for a shuttle flight came last week, when NASA announced that she’ll be trained as an “educator-astronaut.” “It was not unexpected because we’ve been working very hard on this for many, many years,” she told reporters in Boise.
