Copy Center to Open in Mid-Valley Library

Library patrons frustrated by out-of-order copy machines may find relief in one Valley-area branch.

Ikon Office Solutions, an Irvine-based office equipment and products distributor, today will open a photocopy center at the Mid-Valley Regional Branch Library in North Hills.

In celebration of its opening, the center will offer a 25% discount through Friday on black-and-white and color copy jobs.

The center is the second joint venture of the Los Angeles Public Library and Ikon, which opened a copy center in the Downtown Central Library in November.

“Having a copy center inside the library provides patrons with more conveniences, especially in the area of volume copying or color copying,” said Kris Morita, business manager for the Los Angeles Public Library System.

“It’s just another way of trying to improve services to the public.”

In addition to photocopy services, the center will provide color laser printing, tax form reproduction, fax services, computer time rental, binding and mailing services, Morita said.

The North Hills branch was chosen for the copy center because of the facility’s ample floor space and its proximity to Cal State Northridge, she said.

“If the one in the Mid-Valley library is successful, we’d consider opening copy centers at other locations that would warrant something like this,” she said.

The Mid-Valley library, 16244 Nordhoff St., is open from noon to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
