Re “A New Method of Home Security,” Jan. 19:

There is a safe way of keeping revolvers: Just open the cylinder and place a padlock across the top strap. It is now impossible to close the cylinder.

With a semiautomatic, keep the magazine clip with ammunition in a separate location.

When you have children in the home, there is no reason to keep loaded rifles or shotguns in the home. An unloaded rifle or shotgun will never harm anyone.
