ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

Sync Research Inc.: The Irvine manufacturer of computer network products incurred a net loss of $2.8 million, or 16 cents a share, for the fourth quarter, compared with a net loss of $1.9 million, or 11 cents a share, for the fourth quarter a year ago. Revenue declined 40% to $6.2 million from $10.4 million. For the year, a net loss of $16.5 million, or 96 cents a share, was recorded, compared with a net loss of $9.4 million, or 61 cents a share, for the prior year. The 1997 results included $1.2 million related to personnel cutbacks and other charges. Revenue dropped 36% to $23.3 million from $36.3 million.
