Boucher Goes on Injured List

Defenseman Philippe Boucher, sidelined for six games, was put on injured reserve before Thursday night’s game against the Calgary Flames because of thyroiditis.

“I’m feeling better, but I still don’t have all of my weight back yet,” said Boucher after Wednesday’s practice. “I really don’t understand what the problem is, but I just don’t want it to be recurring.”

Boucher lost 15 pounds because of the thyroid problem over the last three weeks.

Calgary rookie Rocky Thompson, who had several run-ins against the Mighty Ducks in his first NHL game on Wednesday, gave King forward Matt Johnson his fighting opportunity since Dec. 20 when the two players dropped gloves 2:27 into the first period.

Robinson said that although Johnson had been somewhat of an inactive enforcer, his overall play as a left wing had kept him in the lineup the last improved.

“Fighting is part of the game, but you have to do more than that,” Robinson said about Johnson, who will be suspended by the NHL if he gets called for instigating another fight this season. “He’s getting better with his ice awareness. He’s realizing that he has to do more.”
